final submission

After completing this assignment, I learnt that art is not just about painting.

I choose Kyoto japan

This is my favorite place in Kyoto and I really like to eat food in Kyoto because there are so many types of food there and then I can feel traditional Japanese culture in Kyoto

Final design

I learnt about traditional art after completing this assignment.

Week 12

I decided to base my final project on this design.

Even nowadays, it is a fact that discrimination still occurs simply because of the colour of the skin.

And it is often said that the further you go into the countryside, the less foreigners you see, so racism is even worse.

I think it is important to make this film to spread the word that no matter where you live, we cannot let the world become a place where racism is tolerated.

observation

The Little Rock Incident (1957), directed by Domingo Ulloa, based on an incident in the USA.

At first glance, they appear to be six pupils on their way to school, while those around them appear to be shaking their fists and laughing with big mouths open.

However, this picture represents a demonstration.

There are black and white schools in the USA, and nine blacks were transferred to another school on the grounds that it was unconstitutional for them to receive different education based on their race, but a demonstration broke out and caused a huge uproar.

Analysis

As evidence of this, the weather is represented by colors as if it were cloudy, and further to the right, the sky turns red, which would represent the anger of the whites.

Unnaturally, while the clothes worn by the blacks are colorful, the whites are all depicted in the same uniform white color.

The whites are not drawn like normal human beings, to me they look like sharks, the big mouths they have represent outspokenness, and the overly white and well-toned teeth represent American-ness.

Looking at the painting as a whole, even though the blacks are well drawn in the center, the whites are not in their original form, much less look like people

Interpretation

The exhibition was also inspired by a 1967 Supreme Court decision ordering an end to segregation in public schools in Arkansas and across the country. The painting is based on a news photograph of the Little Rock Nine, a group of black high school students who wished to attend one of the most prestigious high schools in Little Rock, Arkansas, and were beneficiaries of the Supreme Court decision. Yet when they turned up for their first day at the school, they had to be escorted by National Guardsmen

Sketch

I painted one butterfly, a butterfly is a creature considered beautiful among insects.

However, even butterflies are considered less beautiful just because of their color.

This is the same as racism, where the color of a person's skin can create beauty or even prejudice against that person.

The wings of a butterfly indicate the color of its skin and that it is beautiful no matter what color it is born.
